In 1997, I, Rachel Harris, met a super sweet, funny, sarcastic, reliable, dedicated, family oriented, hard-working, stubborn, sports fanatic boy named Shawn "Sully" Sullivan. We quickly became inseparable. Shawn was turning 17 and getting his license to drive his black Camaro, which I remember as "stinky". Shawn and I were high school sweethearts and for those of you who knew us, knew DRAMA! There was never a dull moment. I spent lots of time with his family, we all went to every hockey and baseball game together (high school and summer league). We usually ended up in the emergency room, as Shawn was never one to turn down a fight on the ice or the field. I saw more broken ribs, blood and concussions than anyone ever should! He was extremely dedicated to his family, friends and teammates. He always looked out for the underdog. If you needed someone to talk to, he was always there. Not only was he my boyfriend he was my friend first and long after all the fights and makeups he continued to look after me. The Thursday afternoon before he passed, he called me to check in on me, I was on bed rest and 9 months pregnant. I missed his call and figured I would just call him later...I will regret that decision forever. We don't have enough room on the website for me to tell you about all the good times that I had with Shawn, as there were years of adventures. My memories of Shawn and his family and our friends are stored in a special place in my heart and I will treasure them forever. : ) xo Rachel
I could sit here and write out everything we all loved about Shawn, however I think we all know why we loved him so I will take this space to explain the love/hate relationship me and Shawn had. I first met Shawn when I was in 8th grade, however we did not actually became very good friends till really my senior yr of high school. I used to drive him crazy! I made him watch Nick at Nite ALL the time. I always stole his gray nike hooded sweatshirt. (He would take it back but I always managed to steal it again.) When he worked at Stop and Shop I would go there steal his truck (I had a key) and leave him my crappy Saturn. I remember doing that once and we got a huge snow storm. I got 1 word for you PISSED. (He got to my mom's house and I think I locked myself in the bathroom b/c any time I drove him crazy he found it funny to throw me in the snow.) On our way to Canada for his hockey tournament he asked me to "pack" his can of chew, so as i was trying it slipped out of my hand and flew out the window! I think he gave me the silent treatment all the way there. (Dont worry I got him to talk by BLASTING NKOTB, he couldn't take it and had to tell me to shut up!) I could go on for ever but I am going to end with this. Shawn was there for me through some of the hardest times of my life, and I will always cherish that. Shawn always told me how it was and I did the same. If you ever heard him and me on the phone you would have thought we were fighting, but really that is just how we communicated. We talked all the time. The last time I spoke with him was probably 2-3 days before the accident. He was trying to get me to go to Foxwoods with him and gamble. (I used to give him crap for gambling ALL the time). He has been a big part of my life and I am glad that no matter what we always remained close. Friends Forever!
